Entry 1-March 14, 2007

1. What are some of the previous research projects you have done?
Some of the previous prjects that we have done were the Labyrinth Project, The Glory that was Greece Prject, A Museum Exhibit, Athens and Sparta Research Project.
2. Based on these projects, what does research mean to you?
To me, research means the study and thourough learning of a subject. Memorizing facts isn't learning, and by really reseaching a topic, you will be able to remember the information a lot better.
3. Describe one of your research successes or failures. Why was the experience positive or negative?
One of my research successes was when the Labyrinth Project. I ponsethought that I did really well with this project because I was able to stay on task and not get off task while in the lab. My group did a good powerpoint and thought of some points that hadn't been brought up. This experience was deffinately positive because while learning all of the intresting facts about labyrinths, I also got be a part of a group that I didn't know as well.

Teacher Response March 15
What great thoughts. Your grade is 10/10.

1. I think the webbing process helped/did not help me find a topic because:

I think that the weebing process deffinately helped me because it helped me get organized. I found some good topics and was able to record them neatly.

Entry 3-March 15, 2007

1. Topic:

My topic is about the Inca's, Aztec's, and the Maya's.
2. Why you chose it:
I chose this topic of the indians because I thought it would be intresting to learn about how indians used to live. Comparing them to the present day inidians today would be intresting to see what has changed.
3. What you already know about your topic:
I already knew that these indians had a pretty tough life, but would come out of their hard experiences "ok". I have also studied a little bit about the Aztec's and know a few of their cultural habits.

Teacher Response March 16
Your grade is 20/20.

1. Describe how the pre-notetaking sheet helped you find both focus for your topic and research questions to investigate. Did you find it easy or difficult to create a fat question from your ideas?

The pre-notetaking sheet jelped me to find a focus for my topic because it helped me to orginize my thoughts and realize why I really was intrested in theis subject. I thought it was mainly easy to create a fat question from my ideas, but I'm afraid that it will be a little too "fat". Other than that, I liked this activity today because I feel better and more secure about this project.

Teacher Response March 20 - I agree, you may still be too fat in the question department. However, as you get into your research you may find that you can handle the broad quesiton. 20/20.

Entry 8-March 22, 2007
1. What have I learned today?
Today I learned that my fat question might be a little too fat. I think I'm going to make my questiona little smaller by just researching what th most important achievments were of the Mayan's.
2. What problems have I had?
The only problems that I had was when I realized that my fat question was too fat. I got a little stressed out, but I think in the end, my paper will come out better.
3. How will I overcome the problem(s)?
I
think that by changing my topic, it will be alot easier to learn about and research. My topic was way too broad and I'm kind of mad at myself for letting myself research for so long on my last topic.
4. What will I do next?
Next I will start to research only about the Mayans and their achievments and try to find some good notes.
